I really love the Confetti album and I think that Confetti is a fitting name for the album. Confetti is almost never just one color and so are the songs on the album, all beautiful songs with different intentions and some are completely opposites of each other which I really like. I’m glad that they brought back some old things, it makes me smile as soon as I hear it. But let’s dive into the songs!
Starting with ‘Break up Song’. In the beginning I really loved the song, but after listening to it too many times the wow-factor became less. I still like it though, but it’s not one of my favorites anymore.
The lyrics are really meaningful, and I really needed a song like this. The lyrics tell you that you can survive on your own and that you don’t need someone else. After you were sad when your relationship ended you start realising that you actually don’t need that person anymore to be happy and to live your own life. I think it’s a really beautiful and important message.
Next up ‘Holiday’! I love this song. I still remember the first moment I listened to the song. I was sleeping over at my grandparents and I was lying in a bunk bed. I was texting with Hannah and we started the song at the same time. I remember that we both really enjoyed the song and that I listened almost the whole night to the song. It still is a song that makes me happy, I mean it’s such a good melody and beat and I immediatly want to sing along.
The lyrics are also good. Kinda like the opposite of ‘Break up Song’, but in a positive way. This song makes me wanna have a relationship hahaha, it shows how beautiful it can be to have someone you care about. The song is about the amazing feeling you get when you do anything containing that one person, the same feeling that you get when you’re going on a holiday. I love it.
And here we go, number three ‘Sweet Melody’, man the music video killed me. I swear. So Hannah and I came up with the idea to not listen to any of the songs before the album came out, well I failed. I saw everyone being so excited about ‘Sweet Melody’ I just needed to listen to the song. So that’s what I did. And man I love it. I still do, it’s definitely one of my favorite songs.
The lyrics are kinda the same as ‘Break up Song’, but they are also really different. ‘Break up Song’ is about being done with a boy and realising you can survive on your own while ‘Sweet Melody’ is more about a playboy. A boy played with someone’s feelings and (s)he fell into his traps until one he made a mistake and (s)he realised it and was done with him. This song, I love it. It teaches you that no matter how good you trust someone they can always stab you in the back without you expecting it.
Next up, ‘Confetti’! I’m soooo excited to talk about this one. I love this song with my whole heart, it’s a new side of Little Mix I never heard before, which I love. Like Leigh-Anne rapping again and Jade doing the high notes (they killed me, I swear). I live for the bridge and the chorus, well the whole song to be honest. I really want to know how many times I’ve listened to this song.
The lyrics are again about being done with someone and being the confetti in your own life. About loving yourself again, being yourself again.
The 5th track on the album is ‘Happiness’. Again I love this song so much. The song is so much more powerful that I thought in the beginning. It makes me feel sad and happy at the same time and I love that feeling. I really needed a song like this, about you giving up everything, even yourself for someone else and in the end realising (s)he never loved you. And that describes a situation I’ve been in, I just really needed a song that would describe exactly how I’m feeling.
The lyrics, I don’t know where to start. I mean, the whole lyrics are telling me exactly what I need to hear. It tells you that you are the only one who can make yourself truly happy and that nobody can really change that, they can make you feel down but you can make yourself happy again. They tell you that you can always find yourself again and that you always need to trust yourself.
6th track! ‘Not a pop song’, it’s a great track! I loved it the second I heard it, but then I listened like non-stop to the song and right now I’m just kinda done with it, it’s not as bad as it’s with ‘Break up Song’ but it’s not my favorite anymore. I still think the lyrics are fire tho. I mean, they literally said names *fakes cough* Simon *fakes cough*. I really like the meaning of the song, it’s about not looking at the inside of a person, only judging it by it’s cover. I hate people who do that, it’s just not fair. I love the meaning but I’m just kinda done with the melody and the instrumental.
‘Nothing but my feelings’ is the 7th track of confetti and my god I love itt! I love the melody, instrumental and their voices. It sounds perfect to me!
The only small problem is the lyrics, I never ever expected the lyrics to be like this haha, I’m used to singing along because it sounds so good without taking a good look at the lyrics and now I’m doing that, well let’s say I’m starting to realise what the lyrics is about. It’s literally about someone who wants to have a ‘fun’ night with someone and (s)he’s waiting for him/her to come around.
I was like okay, didn’t really expect that. But even though the lyrics are kinda different than I expected I really love this song!
Number 8, ‘Gloves Up’! I really like the concept of the song even though it’s not really my style, I prefer a little bit slower songs, even though this one is really good and changes my style a bit! This is a song I would definitely would use as a party starter.
Now that I’m reading the lyrics I realised this song is a little bit more feminist than I thought. It doesn’t exactly say that it’s feminist but it says changing history and combined with the other lyrics I’ll take that as something a feminist would say. I like that idea, a lot.
Maybe I’ll like this song a bit more because I now know what it means for me and how I see it.
9th track on the album is ‘A mess (happy 4 u)’. Don’t get me started on this one. I swear, I could write an entire blog post about this one. I love the melody, the vocals, the music, everything!
The first thing that Hannah saw was that the line distribution was really unfair. I agreed with that, I mean Jesy only sings the bridge, but then I was scrolling through my Instagram and I saw a post of someone having an idea about ‘A mess (happy 4 u)’ they thought that there might me a chance that the song is written for Jesy and that Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie are singing the song for Jesy. I checked it up with the lyrics and realised that that was a really good option. This is what I want to believe about this song, it gives the song an even better meaning for me.
The lyrics are just beautiful, about a person being happy because their love is happy. That’s beautiful and sad at the same moment. The bridge is about checking up on yourself and making sure that you’re okay.
I love this song with every piece of my heart and I hope that you’ll love it even more after you’ve read this beautiful message someone found in the lyrics.
10th song! Omg almost done, but here is ‘My Love Won’t Let You Down’. Every single time I hear this song I’m about to have a mental break down, this song man..
They sing about something I really needed to hear from an artist and to know I have a person like that in my life, it just brightens my life up and makes me cry happy and sad tears at the same time.
The lyrics are so beautiful about always being there for your family, friends, mates, lover, anyone who you care about. That you’ll just be there and won’t leave, sometimes that’s all you want to hear.
11th song, a ‘Rendezvous’. I don’t really like this song, I really like the vocals and the instrumental but I don’t know. Something’s missing for me, it just doesn’t feel complete.
The lyrics are about being in love basically. Just wanting to see someone and lead them on, it’s literally about a one night stand. That’s what I make up out of the lyrics, and I hate those kind of songs. I’m sorry but those are songs that have a good melody and good vocals but when it comes to lyrics it just sucks. I don’t like the lyrics and for me a song is good when the lyrics, the vocals and the instrumental is good and this song just doesn’t have it for me.
Yes! Finally, ‘If You Want My Love’. I love this song so much. It’s about telling someone that you’re not a doll they can play with, that they need to do something to get you. And man I love those kind of songs, these kind of songs really empower me and sometime I really need that. It’s just about being done with someone and if they really want you back they need to work really hard and for me, that’s reality now.
The vocals are pretty good too and the music is amazing! It all comes together and makes it such a powerfull song which I really love!
Last song, ‘Breathe’. This is also one of my favorites, it’s a song that makes me go through the pain I felt that day again and again, and sometimes I just really need that. The lyrics they just literally are my life, like it’s what’s going on right now and I never knew I needed such song, but now that it is there, I can’t stop listening to it. It really helps me somedays and I really needed that. The vocals are just as amazing as the lyrics and the music is great. Overall such an amazing song.
I think Confetti and Salute are my favorite Little Mix albums. I’m a Mixer since Break-Up song was released so this also is the first album since I’m a Mixer. I was really exited for the album and I just couldn’t wait. Luckily for me I had all the other Little Mix songs to listen to in the time we had to wait for the new album, but I still just couldn’t wait.
I know Anoek wrote a lot more but I didn’t wanted to also wrote the meaning of the song down because I can’t change that and it is a lot more work to write it down twice.
The first song on the album is ‘Break up Song’. I can remember that it came out at midnight. I didn’t listened to Little Mix but since I had nothing to do I decided to listen to the song together with Anoek. To be honest I didn’t really liked the song and it still isn’t one of my faves.
I do think that the lyrics is very beautiful, but I just don’t like the style of the song and the music video. I’m very happy that I didn’t stopped listening to Little Mix but just listened to other songs because they are *chef’s kiss*
The second song is ‘Holiday’. Before this song came out I was with Anoek for 3 days. We were at the house of her grandparents. The day the song was released my grandparends were married for 50 years so I had a party. Because of that I couldn’t listen to it together with Anoek. I really liked the song and I immediately knew that I would like this song.
I’m happy the song really gave me holiday vibes because I couldn’t go on vacation because of the pandemic.
I think the lyrics are good, but they are not the best / most meaningful lyrics ever. I still really like the song and I think the lyrics doesn’t always have to be meaningful to be a good song.
‘Holiday’ isn’t one of my favorite songs but it still ranks pretty high.
Then there is ‘Sweet Melody’ and, I swear, it is one of the best songs ever. I waited with listening to it until the album dropped and OMG it is the best song of the album. I did watched the music video without the music and it looked kind of stupid but when I heard the song I realized that it actually fits really nice with each other.
Btw I’m in love with Jade I swear when can I marry her? Anoek said she’s gay for Jade (she said “I’m gay for Jade to be honest” and “Jade has a good 🍑🍑”) but I can’t be gay for Jade, I’m already gay, so because of Jade I’m gay² 🙂
Anoek said that the meaning of the lyrics is a bit similar to ‘Break up Song’. I agree with that but I do prefer the ‘Sweet Melody’ lyrics.
‘Confetti’ is my 2th favorite song of the album. I don’t have to tell you that the song ‘Confetti’ fits the album ‘Confetti’. When I heard the song for the first time I already fell in love with it. I am so happy that Little Mix showed a new side with this beautiful song. I think the beginning of the song is my favorite part of the song. This song just makes me happy every time I hear it and it makes me want to dance and sing.
The next song is ‘Happiness’. The lyrics of this song is so beautiful. At the beginning I didn’t really listened to the lyrics but this one time Anoek send me the lyrics. When I read it I realized how beautiful the meaning of this song actually is. I think the vocals in ‘Happiness’ are also just amazing.
If there would be another music video I would choose ‘Confetti’ or ‘Happiness’ because I think both of the songs are beautiful and just perfect for a music video. The lyrics of the songs are definitely usable for a music video and there also is a vibe you can easily give to a video.
Anoek said that the song is also very powerful. I totally agree with that and I think it might even be one of the most powerful lyrics from the album (but thats my opinion and you might think different about it)
The next track is ‘Not A Pop Song’ together with ‘Break-up Song’ and ‘Holiday’ this is the only song I listened to before the release of the album. I actually said to Anoek that I wouldn’t listen to it. When we had a sleepover Anoek just kept saying ‘I don’t do what Simon says’ and then I would say: ‘No don’t sing it I don’t want to hear it already’. A few days later I was in the car and I already downloaded the song. I decided to listen to it and my favorite line definitely is I don’t do what Simon says. It is just the best line in this song and yeah, Simon kinda deserved it. I do really love the song, but I just heard it to many times so I don’t like it as much as in the beginning.
The 7th song is ‘Nothing but my feelings’. I’m so sorry for the people that love this song but it is just not my favorite. I don’t hate it but it is just not the style of music I normally listen to. I also think that if I would listen to this song to many times I would really begin to hate it. I am afraid the melody is just a bit boring and not my style.
The next song is ‘Gloves Up’. I really love this song because it is a bit upbeat. The beginning of the song is my absolutely favorite part and I quote “Up purrrup, put your, put your, put your gloves up
Up purrrup, put ’em all the way up¨ way to often. It just sounds so funny and I really like that.
I just checked the lyrics of the song after I read that Anoek wrote down that the song is feministic (lol idk what the right word is). I agree that the song is feminist (I think this is the right word) and I think that now I know the lyrics I might even like this song a bit more.
Next up is ‘A mess (happy 4 u)’ When I first heard this song I was surprised by Perries vocals, they were so good and some were a bit different than normal, they were lower.
I remember that I was angry that Jesy only sang in the bridge and I said that I didn’t knew Little Mix like this. I really like the bridge and it is my favorite part of the song so I was sad that Jesy just had that part in the song.
When Anoek told that Jesy probably was only singing the bride because the song was written for her, I understood everything. A few days later I searched the lyrics and Anoek was right, if you think about what recently happened you can really see that the song probably is about this.
I still really love the song, but when I listen to it now it also makes me kind of sad. The song still is one of my favorite song.
The reason why Jesy’s part is my favorite part is because it is just very different from the song and because it is a bit upbeat, as you may already realise I really like songs that are upbeat.
Next is ‘My Love Won’t Let You Down’. This is one of the more sad songs of the album.
I think the song has a very strong, emotional and meaningful lyrics. I really love the lyrics but the song isn’t my style so it isn’t my song.
When I heard it for the first time Anoek and I immediately said, this is one of the sadder songs from the album.
I’m really curious how this song will turn out if the girls will sing it live because I think they could make the song more interesting for me because I feel a song more if it is live.
The 11th song is ‘Rendezvous’ . You know when you really have to be in the mood for a song to love it. Like you listen to it and you absolutely love the song, and the next time you listen to the song you just don’t like it. This is what I think about ‘Rendezvous’. The one time I listen to it I can really vibe with the song, but then the next time I’m like, nah imma skip this song.
The lyrics of ‘Rendezvous’ just isn’t very special for my so this song is just about how it sounds and the beat. The beat and melody are nice and the vocals are also good. This song is a good song for the album and I am happy it exists but it just isn’t one of the top songs of the album.
Next up is ‘If You Want My Love’. I really love this song, which is quite unexpected maybe because it isn’t the kind of song I really listen to very often. In the beginning I wasn’t a big fan of this song, but the more I listened to it, the more I loved it.
The message of this song is beautiful and the lyrics is very powerfull. It is just a song where you are like: Yeah this lyrics is gOOd.
I also really like the melody of this song and I think in the future I may even like it more than I do now because the song is still growing on me.
The very last song of this album is ‘Breathe’. I know a lot of you out there say the song is underrated but I am not the biggest fan. I think the lyrics again is very good, but I find the melody kind of annoying and I got bored of the song very fast. I do like the beginning of the song because it is original and idk I just like it.
I almost feel sorry for not liking this song because I know Anoek really loves this song.
So eh this was our opinion on the confetti album, we really hope you liked reading it and that you maybe learned a thing or two too! We hope to see you any time soon!
